AKINS HAPPY TO BE BACK IN SQUAD

17 March 2017

LUCAS Akins is glad to be back involved after missing a handful of games through injury. Akins made his return from the bench against Nottingham Forest in the 1-0 victory last week.

Akins said: It’s always disappointing when you’re missing games, you feel powerless and more nervous for the lads. On the flip side you see games from a different angle and it’s been great seeing the lads do well. We need to take it game by game and continue that run. It’s a testament to the physio that I am back so soon too and I am ready to play wherever the manager asks me too.”

Akins who has been at the club since League 2 said that the back-back promotions some of the squad have been a part of can only help: “Having the experience of back to back promotions can be only a good thing, obviously this is a different end of the spectrum with us fighting to stay in the league. I am sure if you’d have asked us at the start of the season if we would have taken this position at this stage, I am sure we would of. We know every game in this league is difficult, having the international break coming up it’s more vital we pick up some points. Hopefully history repeats itself as we seem to pick up good results before the break. “
