EXTRA MOTIVATION FOR MCFADZEAN

19 April 2017

BREWERS Defender Kyle McFadzean is determined not to get relegated again after last year’s disappointment with MK Dons.

McFadzean who has been in impressive form of late said: “I’ve told the lads I don’t want to go down because I know what it feels like having experienced it previously, as a footballer you don’t want it on your CV. It gives you a horrible sinking feeling and I drove my partner mad last summer with it. I have that bit of extra motivation because I know what it feels like and what it does to a squad.

“This group is more tight knit than the side I was in last year at MK Dons and we don’t take as many risks. We know as players our jobs as the manager has us well drilled and we have nine points left to play for. The way the Championship is it wouldn’t surprise anybody if the teams below us ended up winning all their games. The lads have been great up to now this season and hopefully we can get those vital points and some results go our way.

McFadzean also spoke about his season so far: “Personally I feel my first season has gone well since I stopped being stupid with my discipline. The manager had a word with me and since then I feel like I’ve played better and have repaid his faith in me. I owe him a lot because some managers wouldn’t have give me another chance, I feel like my performances have been good in most games. I would have liked to have played a few more games but I’ve also had a few knocks and a toe injury. I could have done without the suspensions but you learn from them, I am more bothered about staying up.”
