Lyness: Familiar Company

Goalkeeper ready face familiar opponents

Burton Albion goalkeeper Dean Lyness knows he’s in for familiar company when the Brewers take on Fleetwood Town on Saturday.

This weekend’s Sky Bet League 2 meeting marks the fourth time these teams have faced each other this season. Following two FA Cup ties after the last league meeting, Lyness says the preparation for the game has been like any other.

“We've played Fleetwood a few times this season so know what to expect and we’ll approach the game like any other,” Lyness told Brewers Player.

With only two points separating the two teams, it is a good chance for the Brewers to steal a march on their promotion rivals, but Lyness insists that the squad can’t get ahead of themselves.

“We have to try and look at it as just another game. We have to take it week by week, game by game and we've done that all season.

“There’s no reason to change that and we've proved that we’re more than capable of winning games against teams around us,” Lyness said.

Albion come into this game on an unbeaten run stretching back ten games, a run that Lyness puts down to hard work from the whole squad.

“To go ten unbeaten is something to be proud of. You don’t go on that run often in a season and it’s put us in a good position.

“It’s not just the defence, it’s something we try and start from the top of the pitch. We like to get our shape quickly and be hard to break down. We put the hours in on the training ground and we’re obviously doing something right,” said Lyness.

Looking forward to Saturday, Lyness knows the importance of this game, but doesn't believe it’s a make-or-break game.

“If we can get a win on Saturday, then it will be a good result but if we don’t then we’ll pick ourselves up and go again.”
